Friday Update


In its seventh day of release, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire grossed an estimated $12.4M putting its first week total at a towering $145.7M. The Thanksgiving Day gross was off 12% from Wednesday. Goblet has generated the largest opening week gross ever for the wizard franchise outdistancing the $129.5M for Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, the $123.1M of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and the $106.1M of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Paramount's new family comedy Yours, Mine, & Ours enjoyed a 15% increase from Wednesday and grossed an estimated $3.8M on Thursday for a two-day gross of $7.2M. After a strong start on opening day, the musical Rent dropped 51% to an estimated $2.4M on Thursday giving Sony $7.4M after two days.

Climbing 13% from Wednesday, the New Line comedy Just Friends collected an estimated $2.3M putting its cume at $4.3M going into the weekend. Lions Gate's DJ pic In the Mix grossed an estimated $900,000, up 6%, giving the film $1.7M in its first two days. The Ice Harvest enjoyed a healthy 38% increase on Thursday taking in an estimated $800,000 for a cume of $1.3M after two days for Focus.
