The Matrix Revolutions Update
The Matrix Revolutions stormed the box office with a Wednesday take of $24.3M and a Thursday take of $11M. Its Wednesday opening was the 3rd highest opening Wednesday in history behind Star Wars: Episode I from 1999 ($28.5M) and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers from 2002 ($26.1M). As far as overall opening days, Revolutions placed 11th, sandwiched in between Planet of the Apes from 2001 ($24.6M) and The Hulk from earlier this summer ($24.28M). Both of those movies opened on Fridays.
Worldwide, Revolutions opened in 96 countries and had a combined take of $43.1M on Wednesday, most of which came from the domestic gross.
